Wellpoint, the parent company of Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield, has officially changed its corporate name to Anthem Inc.
The company started trading Wednesday under its new ticker symbol, ANTM. Its previous symbol was WLP.
Wellpoint and Anthem merged in 2004, but Wellpoint has kept its name until now, though it has sold no plans under that brand.
Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield sells plans in Connecticut, New Hampshire, Maine and eight other states.
