State Treasurer Denise L. Nappier, fiduciary of 374,000 shares of United Technologies Corp. securities, insisted last week that UTC’s top five executives cut their combined $70 million in pay last year to save 1,000 Pratt & Whitney jobs.

UTC said it will shut engine facilities in Cheshire and East Hartford by 2011, moving 1,000 jobs to Georgia and to Asia.

“Both the unions and the state together have offered a package that by UTC’s own estimation, could mean more than $30 million [in savings] annually to the company,’’ said Nappier.
