The curtain is closing on Charles H. Owens’ tenure as executive director of the Hartford Symphony Orchestra. He has been appointed president and CEO of the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra in Rochester, New York, said to begin on November 1. In his eight year run with the HSO, Owens, who will step down at the end of September, grew the HSO’s budget more than 60 percent, increased annual attendance by 52 percent, performance revenues by 23 percent and single ticket revenues by more than 200 percent. The HSO board has appointed a committee to search for Owens’ replacement.
