The new service is the result of a partnership between the Connecticut Department of Transportation, Amtrak, Metro-North Railroad and Massachusetts Department of Transportation.

Amtrak also provides direct service from Hartford to Springfield, Massachusetts.

“Adding two new Northeast Regional trains between Springfield and New York City meets the growing demand of train travel and allows more people to experience the benefits of passenger rail,” said Amtrak President Roger Harris.

The trains depart from Hartford Union Station at 5:26 a.m., arriving at Penn Station at 8:10 a.m., and at 8:35 a.m., arriving at Penn Station at 11:21 a.m. Heading north, trains leave Penn Station at 6:59 p.m., arriving in Hartford at 9:51 p.m., and at 8:50 p.m., with an 11:41 p.m. arrival in Hartford.
