Wallingford manufacturer Amphenol Corp. posted a record second quarter as sales of its electronic and fiber-optic cables and connectors eclipsed the billion-dollar mark for the first time ever in a quarter.
Amphenol earned a record $147.8 million, or 85 cents a share, in the three months ended June 30, up from $129.7 million, or 74 cents a share, earned the same period in 2010.
Second-quarter sales rose 15 percent to $1 billion vs. $884.8 million a year earlier.
Amphenol President and Chief Executive Officer R. Adam Norwitt said sales growth across all its markets was led by demand for its components used in cellphones, laptops and other mobile devices.
