Amphenol posts record 2Q earnings, revenue

Wallingford interconnect parts and cable manufacturer Amphenol said its second-quarter profits increased nearly 14 percent on higher sales.

Amphenol booked $174.9 million in profits, up from $154 million in the prior-year quarter. That equated to a record diluted earnings per share of $1.09, up from 95 cents, the company said.

Driving the gains were record sales of $1.31 billion, up nearly 16 percent from 1.14 billion in the second quarter last year. Amphenol’s interconnect division drove most of the gains, posting a sales increase of $176.6 million for the quarter. Currency exchange rates also added $9 million.

The company expects diluted earnings per share between $1.12 and $1.15 for the third quarter.
