Amphenol closes $10.5B acquisition of CommScope connectivity unit

Wallingford-based Amphenol has closed on its biggest ever acquisition — the purchase of Connectivity and Cable Solutions (CCS), from CommScope.

The $10.5 billion deal was first announced last August.

Amphenol makes electrical, electronic and fiber optic connectors, antennas, sensors and coaxial and high-speed specialty cable.

It says the acquisition will expand its capabilities in fiber optic interconnect products for artificial intelligence and other data center applications, a rapidly growing market.

CCS has some 20,000 employees. The CCS business will be folded into Amphenol’s Communications Solutions Segment.

“The acquisition of the CCS business adds significant fiber optic interconnect capabilities for the IT datacom and communications networks markets as well as a diverse range of industrial interconnect products for the building infrastructure connectivity market,” said Amphenol CEO R. Adam Norwitt.

In addition to data center products, CCS also has a broadband communications division, which sells fiber optic products to customers in the communications networks market; and a building connectivity unit, which sells interconnect products integrated into existing and next-generation building technology in the industrial market.

Amphenol said it expects the CCS business to generate full-year sales of approximately $4.1 billion in 2026.

This was the third acquisition Amphenol made from North Carolina-based CommScope. Earlier in 2025, the Connecticut company bought CommScope’s mobile networks business, Andrew, for about $2 billion and in 2024, it purchased its outdoor wireless network and distributed antenna systems businesses for $2.1 billion.
