American Eagle’s Dokas to retire

American Eagle Federal Credit Union says its No. 2 officer, Dean Marchessault, on Jan. 2 will succeed president/CEO William J. Dokas, who is retiring after 42 years with the depositor-owned financial cooperative in East Hartford.

Marchessault currently is American Eagle’s executive vice president and chief operations officer. He has spent the last 14 of his 35-year banking career there.

Dokas began at the credit founded by employees of Pratt & Whitney Co. in 1972 as a management trainee. The Manchester resident managed its Middletown branch until 1978, when he was promoted to oversee its entire branch network.

In 1980, he was promoted to vice president of lending and branch administration, and in 1990 was promoted to president/CEO.
