Mission: To eliminate Alzheimer’s disease through the advancement of research; to provide and enhance care and support for all affected; and to reduce the risk of dementia through the promotion of brain health.
Background: The Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Disorders Association was incorporated on April 10, 1980 with seven chapters and a budget of $75,000. The Alzheimer’s Association, today a multimillion-dollar organization, has led many of the advancements in Alzheimer research and care throughout the U.S.
About our chapter and programs: The Alzheimer’s Association, Connecticut Chapter, is a donor supported voluntary health organization dedicated to providing information and support to the thousands of Connecticut residents dealing with the effects of Alzheimer’s disease or a related dementia. With offices across the state in Norwalk, Norwich, New Milford, Hamden and Rocky Hill, the Connecticut Chapter offers the community 24/7 multilingual helpline support, family training seminars, care consultation, Medic Alert and Safe Return programs, support groups and educational programs for both healthcare professionals and caregivers. The chapter has influenced public policy changes and has provided support to dementia research in the hope of finding a cure.
