Old Greenwich solar installer Altus Power has completed a 963-panel photovoltaic system on the roof of Mystic Seaport Museum’s Collections Research Center.
The system will provide between 10 and 15 percent of the building’s electricity, more than 250 megawatt hours annually.
The Collections Research Center holds 2 million maritime artifacts, which require extensive humidity and temperature control. Mystic Seaport and Altus partnered together over a year ago to curb the building’s carbon footprint and electricity costs.
Visitors will be able to view real time data on the systems output in Mystic’s Treworgy Planetarium.
