Alternative energy initiative proposed for state

The University of Connecticut and three energy companies announced today a multi-million dollar initiative to recruit top professors and foster a training ground for fuel cell and sustainable energy research. The state will put up $2 million for the initiative, matched by a combined $2 million grant from UTC Power, Northeast Utilities and FuelCell Energy. The collaborative effort could lead to improved alternative energy solutions and new products, according to the state.
