Allied says New Zealand quake may cost it $40M

Allied World Assurance Company Holdings AG, the insurer with Farmington operations whose co-founders include American International Group Inc. and Chubb Corp., said the Feb. 22 earthquake in New Zealand may cost Allied as much as $40 million, Bloomberg News reports.

The quake will probably cost at least $30 million, the Zug, Switzerland-based insurer said Monday in a statement.
