Alexion names CEO Bell chairman

Cheshire’s Alexion Pharmaceuticals has appointed its founder and CEO Dr. Leonard Bell as chairman.

Bell’s appointment comes four days after director and Chairman Max Link, 74, died unexpectedly while traveling. Alexion announced Link’s passing on Tuesday. He had been chairman since 2002.

Bell will continue his CEO duties, the company said.

Meanwhile, Alexion also said it has appointed R. Douglas Norby to a newly created position of lead independent director. Norby has been a board member since 1999.
