A proposal for an Aldi supermarket in Stratford has been approved with conditions.
Brixmor Property Group, a New York-based owner of about 360 retail centers nationwide, plans to build a 19,432-square-foot store in its Stratford Square Shopping Center, at 411 Barnum Ave.
The town’s Zoning Commission tacked on 12 conditions to its approval, including architectural fencing or enhanced landscaping around the dumpster area and daily cleanup of strewn items.
In addition, the store must have an area designated for disposal of perishable items, and all parking areas must be kept clear of fugitive dust.
Germany-based Aldi has 2,508 locations across the U.S., including 33 stores in Connecticut, according to its website.
Businesses in the 19.58-acre plaza include Marshalls, L.A. Fitness, T-Mobile, Sally Beauty Supply, GameStop, Great Clips and a U.S. post office. It is also home to restaurants Villa Pizza, Hong Kong Tokyo, McDonald’s and a closed 99 Restaurant & Pub.
