Through a new partnership, students enrolled in Fairfield University’s new two-year associate degree program, Fairfield Bellarmine, will be able to transfer and complete their bachelor’s degrees at Albertus Magnus College in New Haven.
Bellarmine graduates can already pursue bachelor’s degrees at Fairfield University, but this partnership gives them another option.
Additionally, Bellarmine students who want to complete their bachelor of arts or bachelor of science degrees at Albertus will be eligible for scholarship opportunities.
Fairfield Bellarmine Executive Director Rev. Kevin O’Brien said providing students with a variety of options and programs is important.
“While we look forward to students enrolling in Fairfield’s four-year degree programs, it is important to develop partnerships with other schools like Albertus Magnus whose mission and values align with Fairfield’s,” O’Brien added.
Fairfield and Albertus Magnus are both Catholic institutions.
Fairfield Bellarmine offers two-year associate degrees to students from the Greater Bridgeport region.
Last year, Fairfield University announced it was expanding both its campus and educational opportunities for low-income and first-generation students from Greater Bridgeport, with the transformation of the former parish of St. Ambrose Church in Bridgeport into its new Bellarmine campus.
The first cohort of Fairfield Bellarmine students was welcomed at the newly renovated 460 Mill Hill Ave. campus in Bridgeport on Sept. 5, for the start of fall classes in the 2023-24 academic year. The program currently offers majors in business, computer science, health studies and liberal studies.
Fairfield Bellarmine administrators said they are working to establish more agreements so Bellarmine graduates can transfer their credits to pursue bachelor’s degrees at additional colleges and universities.
