Airline upgrades engines through Pratt consortium

Etihad Airways it’s signed an agreement with IAE International Aero Engines to upgrade engines on its current and future fleet of 35 planes.

The East Hartford-based national airline of the United Arab Emirates said it will upgrade its V2500 engine-powered Airbus A320s to the V2500 SelectTwo engine. The airline began using the V2500 engine in 2007.

It will purchase 73 engine upgrade kits from IAE, a consortium whose shareholders are comprised of Pratt & Whitney, Pratt & Whitney Aero Engines International GmbH, Japanese Aero Engines Corporation and MTU Aero Engines.
