Air National Guard gets $14.6M for Bradley, Orange renovations

The U.S. Department of Defense has awarded $14.6 million to the Connecticut Air National Guard to help renovate its base at Bradley International Airport and make some repairs at its Orange station, Gov. Dannel P. Malloy’s office announced.

Of the total amount, $12 million will pay for hangar upgrades at Bradley to accommodate the 103rd Airlift Wing’s switch to C-130H Hercules cargo planes, and to plan for future upgrades.

Congressmen Joe Courtney and John Larson announced that funding in September.

But DoD awarded an additional $800,000 to plan future upgrades to the Bradley base. And it also tacked on $1.9 million to upgrade the fire protection system and vehicle maintenance facility at the Orange Air National Guard Station, which houses the 103rd Air Control Squadron.
