Air Canada plans to restart service between Bradley International Airport and Toronto, officials with the Connecticut Airport Authority announced Tuesday.
The Montreal-based carrier had operated a route linking Bradley with Toronto Pearson International Airport until the spring of 2020, when the COVID-19 pandemic halted nearly all commercial air travel. The service will come back online starting June 1.
Flights between Bradley and Toronto are expected to operate daily year-round.
CAA Executive Director Kevin A. Dillon said the restoration of Air Canada’s flights marks another “major milestone” on Bradley’s broader “road to recovery” after the pandemic dropped air traffic volumes to unprecedented lows.
The airport has been adding back some of the services that were cut nearly two years ago, and expanding partnerships with other carriers to increase the number of U.S. and foreign destinations it serves.
Just last week, Utah-based Breeze Airways said it will make Bradley a base of operations, with plans to add eight new non-stop flights and hire around 200 people, including pilots, flight attendants and mechanics.
