AG fights to keep capitol buildings warm

Attorney General Richard Blumenthal announced today that he is filing an injunction to prevent TEN Cos. Inc. from shutting off heating and cooling services to numerous state buildings in Hartford.

In March of this year, Blumenthal and Department of Public Works (DPW) Commissioner James T. Fleming filed a lawsuit against the company to recover $14 million in improper overcharges.

TEN has responded with an ultimatum: drop the suit, or face a shutdown of service.

The state buildings have no operational stand-alone heating and cooling facilities, allowing no practical alternative to TEN’s services.
