After brief reprieve, Hartford gasoline costs jump

Greater Hartford motorists got a brief reprieve at the start of August from rising gasoline prices, but the cost per gallon jumped again in the past week, according to the AAA Daily Fuel Gauge Report.

In July, the Greater Hartford price of regular unleaded rose 19.8 cents per gallon. On Aug. 1, motorist got relief in a small 0.1 cent fall in price from the previous week.

Gasoline prices again turned upward this past week as they rose 9.1 cents to $3.887 per gallon on Wednesday.

Despite the surge since July, gasoline prices are still below last year’s levels when prices were $3.991 per gallon in Greater Hartford.
