Aetna wins Pa. Medicaid contract

Pennsylvania has hired Hartford-based Aetna Inc. to manage that state’s Medicaid benefits to members in 15 counties.

Financial terms of the contract that starts April 1 were not disclosed.

Aetna Better Health of Pennsylvania will offer health care coverage to Medical medical assistanc members in the five-county Southeast Zone, including Philadelphia, Delaware, Chester, Montgomery and Bucks counties. The program also is offered in the ten-county Lehigh-Capital Zone, including Northampton, Lehigh, Berks, Lancaster, Lebanon, Dauphin, Perry, Cumberland, York and Adams counties.

Aetna Better Health also runs Medicaid plans in Connecticut, Texas and three other states, with members totaling more than 1 million.
