Hartford health insurer Aetna Inc. said today it launched an expanded version of its Web search SmartSource, and plans to make the program available to all users on its own site by 2010.
Aetna launched SmartSource in March 2008, making it available to about 980,000 members through a pilot program. It said the search engine is now available to about 7 million members, and offers new search capabilities and an enhanced design. It can be accessed through the Aetna Navigator member site.
Aetna SmartSource allows customers to find information about disease risks, medical costs, and local doctors using their electronic health records. It uses data including the patient’s gender, age, ZIP code, employer, health care plan and other information from personal health records. (AP)
