Aetna partners with electronic payment firm

Hartford-based Aetna Inc. said it will partner with a electronic payment company in a move that it says will speed up and simplify billing procedures for patients and providers. Medical Funding Services, the Washington D.C.-based partner, will offer electronic payment options at service providers in some parts of the country. The program, called Easy Pay, gives providers the ability to combine Aetna’s and patients’ portions of a medical bill into a single payment, simplifying billing procedures. Aetna said it will roll out the program over the next year.
