Hartford health insurer Aetna Inc. has moved a 15-year veteran from its Chicago office to New Albany, Ohio, where he will oversee the company’s operations in Ohio and Kentucky, Bizjournals.com reports.
Nitin Bhargava was named president over Ohio and Kentucky, effective immediately, Columbus (Ohio) Business First reports.
Bhargava was senior vice president and head of Aetna’s Medicare division for its 17-state mid-America region.
He will oversee about 2,000 Ohio employees and handle sales to small and middle-market customers, public employees, unions and individual customers, according to a press release. He
Bhargava comes to Ohio as Aetna tries to win back part of the state’s $7 billion Medicaid managed-care business in court after the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services rescinded its April award. Trial was set to begin in that case on Monday.
He holds a master’s degrees from the University of Maryland and the University of Iowa and a bachelor’s degree from Indian Institute of Technology.
