Aetna announced that Thomas J. Sabatino Jr. has been named executive vice president and general counsel, effective April 25. Sabatino also will join Aetna’s executive committee, the company’s senior-most leadership team.
Sabatino joins Aetna from Hertz Global Holdings Inc., where he served most recently as senior executive vice president, chief administrative officer and general counsel.
Sabatino succeeds William J. Casazza, who will continue to serve as a strategic adviser to Aetna in connection with the company’s pending acquisition of Humana. Casazza will retire when that deal closes. Casazza has served Aetna for 24 years, and he has been executive vice president and general counsel since 2005.
