Aetna earnings grow

Hartford-based health insurer Aetna saw its net income rise 8 percent to $434.6 million, up from $401.7 million in the first quarter a year ago. Earning per diluted share were 81 cents, up 13 cents from the first quarter last year. Sales climbed 7 percent to $6.7 billion. Aetna raised its 2007 annual earnings guidance 5 cents per share to $3.35.
