Hartford area health insurers Aetna Inc. and Cigna Corp. each re-signed agreements that maintain members’ in-network access to care with a pair of hospitals in the South.
Hartford’s Aetna said it and Mississippi’s Memorial Hospital at Gulfport renewed their pact that gives Aetna’s commercial plans access and in-coverage access to the hospital’s care network.
Separately, Cigna, based in Bloomfield, renewed its agreement with Roper St. Francis Healthcare, of Charleston, S.C., effective Aug. 15. Their old pact expired Feb. 1.
Cigna’s customers in the Charleston area have the option to seek in-network care from the approximately 200 board certified physicians employed by Roper St. Francis, officials said
Financial terms of neither Aetna nor Cigna deal were disclosed.
Aetna members continue to receive covered services, at in-network rates, from 303-bed Memorial Hospital and at the hospital’s Physicians Clinic at MHG.
Aetna said it provides health benefits to more than 65,000 members in Mississippi. Those members have access to a contracted network of 88 hospitals and more than 4,500 primary care and specialist physicians.
