Aetna Inc. and its nonprofit philanthropic arm gave more than $25 million in grants and donations in 2008 to promote health, diversity and employee community involvement in U.S. markets where Aetna is active.
In 2007, Aetna and the Aetna Foundation contributed $24.5 million nationally, the company said today.
Its largest corporate and nonprofit awards for 2008 were concentrated in Connecticut, totaling $7 million, Aetna said.
It also gave a combined $2.3 million to charities and nonprofits in Georgia, Florida, North Carolina and Pennsylvania, the compay said.
Since 1980, Aetna and the Aetna Foundation have contributed more than $334 million in grants, sponsorships and social investments, the company said.
