Aetna will expand the responsibilities of Chief Financial Officer Joseph Zubretsky to include leadership of the health insurer’s strategic diversification plans under the incoming chief executive officer, Reuters reports.
The No. 3 U.S. health insurer said on Thursday that Zubretsky, 54, had been promoted to senior executive vice president and CFO. Chief Information Officer Margaret McCarthy, 56, has also been promoted to executive vice president.
Both executives will report to Mark Bertolini, Aetna’s president who on Wednesday was named to replace CEO Ron Williams. All the promotions take effect Nov 29.
Zubretsky is well-known to Wall Street, appearing on the quarterly conference calls with Bertolini and Williams. He joined Aetna in 2007 from insurer Unum Group.
