Aetna CEO’s 2009 pay package dips

Aetna’s top boss Ronald Williams saw a slight decline in his total pay package in 2009, a regulatory filing shows.

The chairman and CEO of the Hartford health insurer received a total pay package valued at $18.1 million in 2009, just under his $18.6 million package in 2008, according to the company’s filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Williams pay package included a $1.1 million salary, $900,000 bonus, and $4.3 million performance-based stock awards.

Williams also received $9.9 million in option awards and $208,659 in other compensation, which included personal use of corporate aircraft and vehicles.
