Aetna appoints foundation president

Hartford health insurance and services provider Aetna has appointed Dr. Garth Graham as president of its philanthropic arm, the Aetna Foundation.

Graham, who is an expert on health disparities and quality, served as deputy assistant secretary at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) during the Bush and Obama administrations.

Previously, Graham was assistant dean for health policy and chief of health services research at the University of Florida School of Medicine.

Aetna and the Aetna Foundation have contributed more than $427 million in grants and sponsorships over the past 34 years.
