A coalition of employers in Pennsylvania’s Lehigh Valley who self-insure their workers’ health coverage named Hartford health giant Aetna Inc. one of its two “preferred providers,” Aetna says.
The Lehigh Valley Business Coalition on Health Care in Harrisburg, Pa., consists of medium and large employers, each with 200 to several thousand workers spread over multiple states, Aetna says.
Aetna said it earned the preferred designation by demonstrating superior performance, pricing or service, and by giving area employers more flexibility in selecting plans that best meet their needs.
In addition, the endorsed plans offered the exclusive pricing and service options for coalition members in a broad market area yielding significant savings for employers.
Aetna says it provides health benefits to more than one million members in Pennsylvania, who have access to a network of more than 200 hospitals and more than 31,000 primary care and specialist physicians.
