Addivant expands South Korea capacity

Middlebury polymer additives manufacturer Addivant said it has completed the first in a series of planned expansions of its South Korean plant.

The company said the expansion is part of its three-pronged plan to focus on growing polymer markets in Asia, North America and the Middle East.

The completed phase has boosted the company’s production capacity of Alkanox240 — an organo-phosphite antioxidant that protects polymers during processing — by 40 percent.

The additive is a building block for Addivant’s platform of dust-free additives used in the manufacturing of plastic packaging and other products.

The company’s other planned capacity expansions are slated for completion by next year.
