Anti-pollution activists scaled a power plant coal elevator in Bridgeport early Thursday, draping a banner declaring their demand to shut the coal-fired plant.
Greenpeace activists hung a 40-foot by 20-foot banner from the Bridgeport Harbor Generation Station visible to I-95 commuters that read: “Shut it Down – Quit Coal.”
The group claims coal pollution contributes to thousands of heart and asthma attacks and some 1.6 million lost work days in the U.S. annually.
No injuries or arrests were reported.
