GDF SUEZ Energy North America today announced the acquisition of the Hartford-based FirstLight Power Enterprises Inc. from Energy Capital Partners has been completed.
FirstLight Powers owns and operates 16 power generation facilities in Connecticut and Massachusetts. The acquisition makes GDF Suez Energy North America the fifth-largest electricity generator in New England.
In September, a French newspaper reported the deal was worth $1.9 billion.
The company, part of the France-based international energy group GDF Suez, owns and operates 61 power, cogeneration, steam and chilled-water facilities and is building an liquefied natural gas import facility off the coast of Massachusetts.
