With two months to go in the second annual Obamacare enrollment period, Access Health CT said 65,473 Connecticut residents have signed up for health insurance.
Of that number, just over 46,000 were Medicaid enrollees. Access Health said it also signed up 1,050 members into its small business exchange and 450 dental members.
Residents who signed up by Dec. 15 will have coverage on Jan. 1. The deadline for Feb. 1 coverage is Jan. 15, while the deadline for March 1 coverage is Feb. 15.
To avoid a federal tax penalty, those without insurance must enroll by Feb. 15.
The fine will be the greater of 2 percent of household income over the federal income tax filing threshold or $325 per individual.
The penalty has increased from 1 percent last year.
