Connecticut residents can now shop, compare and enroll in health and dental insurance plans on the state’s health insurance exchange, Access Health CT (AHCT),
The exchange’s open enrollment period began Nov. 1 and ends Jan. 15, 2025. State residents can enroll or renew their coverage via the exchange’s website, www.accesshealthct.com.
Last year, AHCT said 129,000 people enrolled in a qualified health plan in 2024, the most since the state marketplace first opened in 2013. A record number of people, more than 14,000, also enrolled in dental coverage.
This year, for customers who enroll on or before Dec. 15, coverage will begin on Jan. 1. For those who enroll between Dec. 16 and Jan. 15, coverage will start Feb. 1.
Access Health CT is the only place state residents can get financial help to pay for their health insurance. Nearly 90% of customers enrolled in a qualified health plan (QHP) receive assistance, AHCT said.
Some customers may also be eligible for the Covered CT Program, which provides insurance at no cost for eligible residents who qualify. Last year, 27,393 people received benefits at no cost.
This year, AHCT offers 22 qualified health plans from three insurance carriers — Anthem, ConnectiCare Benefits Inc. and ConnectiCare Insurance Co. Inc.
Anyone who is part of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrival (DACA) program and who lives in Connecticut can sign up for health and dental insurance through AHCT.
Help to sign up for a plan is available for free online, in person and over the phone.
