Connecticut’s health insurance exchange has enrolled more than 10,000 customers in health plans in its first full week of open enrollment, Access Health CT CEO Jim Wadleigh said Friday.
As of today, 10,157 customers have enrolled in a qualified health plan, 37,055 have called the exchange’s call center for help and 61,877 have visited the website.
“Despite the confusion in the news, we’re seeing lots of consumer engagement this first week and that’s really encouraging,” said Wadleigh. “We are finding the volume of customers renewing into a 2018 policy or buying a new policy is trending 15 percent higher than last year at this time.”
As part of the effort to help consumers sign up during the shortened enrollment period this year, Access Health has expanded its community outreach to include 10 enrollment locations and five enrollment fairs to give more consumers access to free in-person help.
Connecticut residents can shop for a plan through Dec. 22.
