A South Windsor construction equipment company is planning an expansion with a new 6,500-square-foot industrial building on its Burnham Street campus near the East Hartford town line.
Derek Bauer, president of Able Tool and Equipment, won approval from the South Windsor Planning and Zoning Commission for a new industrial building on his property at 396 Burnham St., next to the company headquarters at 410 Burnham St.
The company started in 2005, in East Windsor rental space, before moving to the current South Windsor location in 2010, Bauer said.
The expansion will allow Able Tool to obtain and store more equipment for infrastructure construction work. Able Tool also does equipment repair work, sells parts and equipment rentals, with jobs and clients throughout southern New England, Bauer said.
The multimillion-dollar expansion project could include a second phase down the line, Bauer said, with an additional 2,000 square feet of space for an equipment retail storefront. For now, the 6,500-square-foot building is on target for a late summer ground breaking, with work completed in about 18 months, he said.
