Mission: Our mission is in our name. At Ability Beyond Disability we discover, build and celebrate the ability in all people.
Background: Ability Beyond Disability was founded in 1953 by a group of families who wanted a better life for their children with disabilities and others like them. Now operating out of Connecticut and New York, Ability Beyond Disability helps more than 1,300 people each year. We provide a wide range of services for people with differing abilities, helping each individual to be as independent in the community as possible.Â

Our Programs: We offer community-based residential and independent living options combined with day programs, work, transportation and clinical supports.  We help people find homes where they can live, provide supports they can count on, train them to work and then help them to find jobs. Our services are tailored to meet the unique needs of every individual at every stage of their life.
Major Fundraiser: Ability Beyond Disability is a $53 million organization that relies on philanthropic support to fill the gap between the cost to provide services and the funding we receive.
We hold a variety of fundraising events throughout the year — the biggest being our golf tournament in September, wheelchair basketball game in October, and gala in April. Please visit our website to learn more about these events and how you can get involved.
