Jurors in the trial of former New England Patriots player and Bristol native Aaron Hernandez have found him guilty of first degree murder of Odin Lloyd, which carries a penalty of life imprisonment without the possibility of parole.
Hernandez was also found guilty of unlawful possession of a firearm and unlawful possession of ammunition.
Lloyd’s mother, Ursula Ward, gave a tearful remembrance of him during Wednesday’s sentencing hearing.
“The day I laid my son Odin to rest, I felt my heart stop beating. … I felt like I wanted to go into the hole with my son, Odin,” she said. “I will never have a grandchild from my son, or grandchildren. I will never get to dance at his wedding. He will never get to dance at my wedding.”
