More than 2 million New Englanders plan to travel at least 50 miles from home for Thanksgiving, up 3.9 percent from last year, according to AAA.
The increase is spurred in part by low gas prices, down 25 cents in Connecticut from a month ago, the autoclub said. Of those who said they plan to travel, 1.8 million were driving.
However, it’s not clear what impact a snowstorm predicted to last late into Wednesday evening will have on actual travel activity.
Gov. Dannel P. Malloy has urged state residents to stay off the roads this afternoon. State offices closed at 12:30 p.m. because of the weather forecast.
