The Farmington mansion rapper 50 Cent once called home is still waiting for someone to get rich or die tryin’ to buy it.
The 51,830-square-foot estate at 50 Poplar Hill Drive, which was also once owned by boxing champion Mike Tyson, was relisted last month at $9.9 million.
The listing expired Aug. 13 and was reactivated the following day, without a price reduction, according to listing data.
The property is owned by AFNC LLC, a Florida company managed by businessman Casey Askar. Askar bought the property through AFNC for $2.9 million on April 4, 2019, according to Farmington property records. The current asking price is more than three times that amount.
The Askar Group announced the purchase the following day and said it planned a complete renovation of the interior and grounds.
Askar’s businesses include Askar Brands, which operates quick-service restaurant chains including Papa Romano’s and Breadeaux Pizza.
The property has a long and colorful ownership history. Tyson bought it for $2.8 million in 1998, according to property records, and sold it in January 2003. That September, 50 Cent, whose real name is Curtis Jackson, bought it for $4.1 million.
50 Cent first listed the mansion for sale in 2007, asking $18.5 million. The property went on and off the market several times before he ultimately sold it to Askar.
The 1985 contemporary sits on 17.59 acres and includes 21 bedrooms and 40 bathrooms, according to the current listing.
The home has an indoor pool and spa, nightclub, recording studio, casino room, billiards and game rooms, racquetball court, fitness center, boardroom, library, offices and seven kitchens.
The grounds include a resort-style pool with a grotto and waterfall, a private bridge, four-bedroom guesthouses, a pool house, pond, basketball and tennis courts and an eight-car garage.
The listing says the property has undergone more than $3 million in recent renovations.
Sherry Borgeson of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices New England Properties is the listing agent.
