A 43-unit apartment building is being proposed for 1515 State St. in New Haven, according to plans filed with the city.
The project, submitted by applicant M&T Land Development II LLC on behalf of owner East State LLC, is seeking site plan approval, coastal site plan review and a special permit.
Plans call for construction of a four-story multifamily building with first-floor residential units and additional apartments on upper floors. The development would include a mix of studio, one-bedroom and two-bedroom units, based on architectural drawings.
Two of the 43 units would be designated as affordable housing under the city’s inclusionary zoning ordinance.
The building is planned for a corner parcel along State and Lyman streets and would include on-site parking, landscaping and pedestrian access, according to site plans.
Designs prepared by Milford-based Sullivan Architectural Group show a four-story structure with a pitched roof and residential-style façade.
The proposal is scheduled to be discussed at a public hearing Wednesday at 6 p.m.
If approved, the project would add new housing along the State Street corridor, an area that has seen increased residential development activity in recent years.
