40 Under Forty 2011 – About the Judges

Eileen Candels

Central Connecticut Kelly Services

Eileen Candels is vice president and territory manager for Central Connecticut for Kelly Services, the workforce solutions company. She began with Kelly as a recruiter over 25 years ago, then moved into positions in business development and management.

Candels has been responsible for leading the Greater Hartford Market since 1991, and has developed many corporate and regional partnerships. She has led the growth of Kelly Educational Staffing, from a small partnership with Bloomfield to today working with more than 50 school districts across the state.

She is a past Business Advisory Council member for AI Prince Tech School, and was recently appointed to the Tunxis Community College’s Workforce Development Board.   She is a member of HRACC, APICS, and CBIA and CURE.  She has served on boards of the Farmington Chamber of Commerce, Business Network Group, and the Seniors Job Bank, and led Kelly fundraising teams for Making Strides Against Breast Cancer and March of Dimes. She was a member of the 40 Under Forty class of 2000.

Amanda May Sirica

Sirica Marketing & Public Relations, LLC

After working as a news reporter and then at a company that topped the Hartford Business Journals list of public relations firms, Amanda Sirica founded Sirica Marketing & PR, LLC in 2007. She describes the boutique marketing communications consulting firm as the kind of a work-life balance all working mothers strive to achieve and others in her field emulate. While her forte is media relations, she also enjoys marketing, event planning and identity development for her clients.

She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in mass communications from Quinnipiac University in Hamden.  She began her career at The Journal Register Co., has served as a corporate spokesperson for a Fortune 500 company and worked in agency PR. 

She is a member of the Connecticut Women’s Council and its communications committee and is the president of the Board of Managers for the Wheeler Regional Family YMCA.  She is also a member of the Hartford Business Journal’s 40 Under Forty class of 2010.

Sarah Lombard
Partner
Hinckley, Allen & Snyder LLP

Sarah Lombard’s Hartford-based law practice focuses on corporate and business law and commercial finance, involving mergers, acquisitions, financings, and securities offerings, both public and private. She also advises businesses on matters ranging from everyday corporate governance, operational and securities law, strategic expansions and sophisticated financings.

She is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the College of the Holy Cross, holds a master’s in education from Harvard University and a juris doctorate from Suffolk University where she won the school’s jurisprudence award.

She began her career at Tyler Cooper & Alcorn LLP, where she became a partner before moving to Hinckley, Allen & Snyder LLP.

She is a member of the board of directors at Interval House and at Camp Courant. She was named to the Hartford Business Journal’s 40 Under Forty class of 2010.
