Four more people have been found guilty for their roles in a mortgage fraud scheme in the New Haven area, The Associated Press reports.
Thirteen people have now been convicted.
Those found guilty Tuesday include 82-year-old Morris Olmer of New Haven, who allegedly acted as a lawyer despite not having a license since February 2007; and Marshall Asmar of Milford, accused of providing kickbacks to the defendants through a fake company and renting out properties that were sold to straw buyers.
Also convicted were Rab Nawaz of Waterford and Wendy Werner of Sarasota, Fla.
The jury in U.S. District Court in Hartford could not reach a verdict against Rabbi David Avigdor of New Haven.
Federal prosecutors say the scheme, which lasted from August 2006 to May 2010, involved $3.2 million in fraudulent loans.
