365 Data Centers eyes CT for AI data center as part of national expansion

A Norwalk-based data center operator, 365 Data Centers, has partnered with a national real estate investment firm to develop roughly 200 megawatts of high-density data centers across the United States, potentially including one in Trumbull.

The partnership, between 365 Data Centers and Florida-based Aphorio Carter, was announced Wednesday. 365 specializes in colocation and cloud operations, while Aphorio Carter focuses on data center real estate and development.

Together, the companies said they plan to identify, convert and build a portfolio of high-density facilities capable of supporting AI workloads and other advanced applications.

365 said it is initially evaluating six sites, with letters of intent already signed for two “priority locations” in Aurora, Colorado and Simpsonville, Kentucky.

The Fairfield County town of Trumbull is among four additional markets where the company is pursuing letters of intent to develop data centers, along with Louisville, Kentucky; Harrisonburg, Virginia; and Columbus, Ohio. The projects are expected to come online over the next nine to 24 months.

Derek Gillespie, CEO and chief revenue officer of 365, said the partnership positions the company to meet strong demand for AI infrastructure.

The Trumbull project remains in the early stages, and specific property details and timelines have not been disclosed. Final contracts and internal approvals are still required before any of the planned locations move forward, according to the companies.

The announcement comes as Connecticut lawmakers this legislative session weighed two bills that would reshape the state’s data center landscape: one that would eliminate existing tax incentives for data centers, and another that would require large new electricity users, including data centers, to supply their own power generation rather than draw from the state’s electric grid.

The status of those bills wasn’t immediately clear at press time. The legislative session ends Wednesday.
