The 2022 Eversource Hartford Marathon and Half Marathon is set for this weekend and is expected to bring nearly 10,000 runners and their supporters to the city, according to organizers.
The 29th annual Eversource Hartford Marathon kicks off at the front steps of the State Capitol building Saturday morning with its usual lineup of races and charity runs that travel throughout the city and down the Connecticut River.
The marathon and half marathon for wheelchair athletes will start at 7:55 a.m. with the marathon, half marathon and Team 26.2 relay beginning at 8 a.m. The charity 5K will start a minute after that at the intersection of Washington at Buckingham streets and the HMF FitKids Run begins at 9:30 a.m. outside Bushnell Park.
A finish line expo at Bushnell Park from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. will feature vendors, food, beer and live music along with the usual award ceremony.
According to organizers, participants in the Eversource Hartford Marathon and Half Marathon have raised more than $8.7 million for local charities.
Many streets in the city will be closed Saturday during the marathon. More information about closures can be found online.
