2024 Travelers Championship will be signature event for PGA Tour

Just a few weeks after the conclusion of the 2023 Travelers Championship, event organizers already have the news they wanted to hear: next year’s tournament will continue to be a signature event for the PGA Tour.

Travelers Championship officials on Monday announced that 2024’s event will once again be a designated event featuring an elevated purse of $20 million and a guarantee of top golfers participating. Last year, PGA called such tournaments “designated” events.
Next year’s championship is scheduled for June 17 to June 23, at TPC River Highlands in Cromwell.

According to information from the PGA, the 2024 Travelers Championship field will include up to 80 players. The new format will have golfers competing all four days without being cut. Keegan Bradley won this year’s tournament.

To qualify for next year’s Travelers Championship, golfers must meet one of the following criteria:

  • Finish in the top 50 of the 2023 FedExCup standings through the playoffs
  • Be in the top 10 of the current year FedExCup standings through the 2024 U.S. Open
  • Be one of the top five FedExCup point earners through a “swing” of three tournaments: Myrtle Beach Classic, Charles Schwab Challenge, RBC Canadian Open
  • Win a PGA TOUR event in the 2024 season
  • Be one of the top 30 PGA TOUR members in the Official World Golf Ranking through the U.S. Open
  • Be the defending champion
  • Meet other standards outlined on the PGA TOUR website.

Travelers became the title sponsor of the Travelers Championship in 2007. SInce then, the tournament has raised more than $28 million for more than 900 local charities, including $3 million this year to more than 160 organizations.
