This year’s Travelers Championship generated over $2 million for 112 charitable organizations, according to event organizers.
The tournament, which wrapped up Sunday with a win for Harris English, donates 100% of its net proceeds to charity.
Travelers officials said the main beneficiary this year is the Hole in the Wall Gang Camp in Ashford, which provides a traditional summer camp experience for children with cancer and other serious illnesses. A fire at the site in February destroyed several buildings, and the Hartford insurer matched $1 million in donations to help rebuild the campus.
Last week’s tournament marked the return of crowds to TPC River Highlands in Cromwell after the COVID-19 pandemic forced major changes — including the barring of spectators — in 2020. Vaccinated guests were allowed to attend without masks, a far cry from one year ago, when only players, event staff and television crews were permitted onto the grounds.
Travelers has committed to sponsoring the tournament through 2030.
